VLC is a favorite of ours among open source media players. Not only is it fast and compact, but it brilliantly displays video files with very little need to download additional codecs. Users can interact with VLC by normal mouse buttons or with the mouse wheel to control volume.
While playing back videos, you have the option of speed controls and live recording of video streams.
Version 3.0.20 is a freeware program which does not have restrictions and it's free so it doesn't cost anything.
