Pidgin (previously called Gaim) is a free open-source instant messaging client. It supports multiple protocols for various networks for both Windows and Linux. The client itself is compatible with AIM (AOL Instant Messenger), ICQ, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, IRC, Jabber, Zephyr and many others.
Version 2.14.13 is a freeware program which does not have restrictions and it's free so it doesn't cost anything.
