Microsoft Office is obviously the industry standard for word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel) and presentations (Powerpoint). The unfortunate thing about using this software is that the developers never really took the nod from the browser industry and never implemented time-saving tabs. That has changed with the release of Office Tabs by a Chinese company.

If you're accustomed to tabbed web browsing with programs such as IE8 , Firefox, Opera or Safari, Office Tabs should be a nice addition to your workplace desktop. This little software can improve your productivity while working with MS Office 2003, 2007 and 2010. It supports Microsoft Word tabbing, Microsoft Excel Tabbing and Powerpoint. Opening a new tab is as easy as using the hotkey CTRL N, just like with your browser.

The program also allows you to customize the style and also saving the tabs.

The free version here is available for personal, non-commercial use. The company also offers a professional, paid full version which features some extra options. Both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows versions are supported.
