WorldWide Telescope from Microsoft Research is an ambitious and cool project from the team outside of Seattle which provides amazing access to photos taken by telescopes such as Hubble, Spitzer and Chandra.

The layout of the program is nice indeed, but what is more impressive is the amount of photography the application gives you, not unlike Google's "Sky" project which is part of Google Earth.

That aside, Microsoft WorldWide Telescope gives you access to constellations with identification, galaxies, star clusters, nebulae and more. It also provides quick access to Wikipedia so users can find out more about what they're looking at in the interface.

Version 6.0.11.1 is a freeware program which does not have restrictions and it's free so it doesn't cost anything.
