Helicon Filter 5 is a photo editing software for digital photographers. It offers an easy and intuitive interface, contextual help and live preview feature, the help beginners with an easy start in photo editing.
The program was designed in such a way to take the user step by step, through all the post processing stages of photo editing. First there is the folder browser that will allow basic operations such as rotate, copy, delete, move and such. From here on, a photo is selected and the editing part starts.
The first operation is retouching. It offers popular paper sizes and monitor resolutions or proportional selection tools. It also supports batch crop or resize, and allows for images to be rotated (to straighten them out). Next are the brightness settings; these feature contrast, gamma, exposure, gradient haze compensation, brightness equalizer/curve, brightness in highlights, shadows and others.
Helicon Filter offers various tools and controls for adjusting the colors, such as one-click white color balance tool, color map and RGB sliders, memory colors list, saturation for bright and dull colors, spectral sensitivity controls and others.
The noise and sharpening steps allow to auto detect noise level and selective noise reduction in highlights and shadows, fine details extraction, edge sharpening, white halo control and others. There are also various tools for correcting lens distortion such as vignetting correction, perspective correction, skewing, bending, squeezing, stretching and others.
There are also several tools for photo retouching and correcting, mainly brushes, such as delete scratches brush, clone brush, blur/sharpen brush, fix red eye brush, distort brush and others. All these brushes can be edge-sensitive and support undo and redo.
Other features of this software include adding frames (blurred or black and white as frame texture), multiprocessor support, batch processing, user settings support, 16 bit precision image processing, etc.
The software has an evaluation period of 30 days when the software is fully functional. After this period ends, the program will switch to free mode with limited functionality.
