Fraps

Fraps is a multi-faceted application which works on almost all versions of Windows including Windows 7 64-bit. It is primarily used as a video capture program for recording gameplay on Windows system running DirectX or OpenGL. It can record the screen at various framerates and resolutions, benchmark gaming and function as real-time video capture software with full audio support.

Fraps is a favourite among capturing program by YouTube LPers or YouTube lets players as its flexible and stable design allow for uninterrupted recording and configuration based on available hardware.

Fraps is also useful for overclockers as it shows increase or decrease in d3d/opengl apps and logs your framerate.

The free version is somewhat limited in that it only records for 30 seconds, so longer recordings will require the full version available from the developer's web site.
