Information: Italian virtuoso violinist Antonio Bazzini (1818-1897) was encouraged by Paganini and lauded by Mendelssohn and Schumann before he abandoned concert playing for composition. Later, he became teacher of such luminaries as Catalani, Mascagni and Puccini.
