New graphic cigarette packs in Canada

As you may already know, the government has done it again, from only about 8 years ago, with no warnings whatsoever to large white and black warnings and as of the new year of 2001, the new "picture packs" with graphic images have been introduced and slowly phased in.

As Players and Matinée we're the first to introduce the packs in Ontario, the other tabacco companies followed along.

This is definately not fair to smokers, having to look at the new packs, when they already know what cigarettes can do, but is everyone aware that a car exaust pipe can do worse to you than cigarettes can in a lifetime? Or what about alcohol bottles, if they want to do it to tobacco companies and smokers, why on earth are they not putting an alcoholic's liver on a bottle, or showing what that does to your brain?

These new packs are costing the tobacco companies billions of dollars. But the government still controls the cost of cigarettes nationwide, making billions a year in tobacco taxes, likewise with alcohol.

If they do this to smokers, it's only fair that they do it to drivers, and alcoholics. If you want to get in contact with Health Canada, visit their website at: http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/english/index.htm and tell them what you think about the new packs.
