Mobilicity offers BlackBerry Curve 3G

A new Canadian wireless carrier, Mobilicity, has added a new smartphone to its line-up. The BlackBerry Curve 3G, manufactured by Canadian RIM can now be purchased full-price and cheaper than you'd expect from the big 3.

The Curve, also know as the Curve 9300, offers business users a full keyboard, a stunning 480x360px display screen, built-in Wi-Fi and typical of BlackBerry devices, an optical trackpad. Also a standard feature in modern smartphone devices, the phone is capable of 3G mobile data.

Contrary to the 'big three' carriers (Rogers, Bell, Telus), Mobilicity does not subsidize the products it offers by requiring a contract or a service agreement. Compared to Bell Mobility, the device is a grab at a competitive $299.99. Bell Mobility is currently offering the contract-free phone for $349.95.

As far as the mobile phone market in Canada goes, we're likely to see a shake-up. Since Rogers purchased Fido several years back, there's been little benefit to the consumer and we're hoping Mobilicity and the other new carriers make a splash.
