A woman who caused outrage among many Canadians by faking her cancer has pleaded guilty to a single count of fraud over $5,000.

Ashley Kirilow is a 23-year-old who defrauded Donna Michalowski of almost $7,400 through a fundraiser for cancer. The proceeds of the fundraiser were supposed to go to charity, according to police, but the woman apparently kept the cash for herself.

Her lawyer has said she is not ready to comment on the case, though Kirilow has pleaded guilty to this one count of fraud, she still faces six other counts of fraud under $5,000.

In one photo of Kirilow, she posed with tattoos on her knuckles with the words "WON'T QUIT". She also had a bald head, suggesting she had undergone chemotherapy -- an illusion created by waxing her head.
