A sleek design: The new BlackBerry Playbook -RIM
With the recent debut of the HP Slate 500 and other devices, the tablet market might not remain dominated by the Apple iPad for very much longer. For those relying on BlackBerry services, we're pleased to announce that the RIM BlackBerry Playbook might very well debut in March 2011.

Though a little late for Christmas, the products coming to the market look promising to those constantly on the go, those who find notebooks too bulky and smartphones too awkward, that is.

The news comes from various non-official sources, but RBC Capital Market analyst Mike Abramsky released a note last Friday mentioning it. Its promising; the previous reports suggested we'd see a release of the tablet later in 2011.

The size of the device makes the iPad look like a giant at only 18cm or 7" in length. The iPad is around 22cm in length.

Those lucky enough to get their hands on the Playbook will be pleased by the fact that it comes pre-installed with various Adobe products including Flash, something Apple has steered away from.

Multi-tasking is also an advantage the Playbook will have over the iPad, meaning users will be able to run multiple applications at once. Conference calling will also be made possible with dual cameras fitted on to the device.

The Playbook will feature a back-facing HD 5 megapixel camera and the front-facing camera, a little bit lower in specification with 3 megapixels.

A true multi-touch screen will also come with the package, including gesture-support which has become a popular feature on many Android phones and mobile products by Apple.

All-in-all, BlackBerry doesn't disappoint with the design of the gadget; its sleek black lines with smart-looking curves made the tablet look quite chic... and it comes with some cool looking applications running on a new BlackBerry tablet-PC operating system.

Our best guess on initial pricing would probably be around $400 - $500 without a contract.
