Introduction:
Securing highly sensitive information is very important. Whether you are in a big office or a home office or using your PC for personal use, protecting those important documents from intruders is very important. Preventing these attacks could stop unwanted people from gaining access of this highly sensitive information whether it's your bank statements, important files for a company project, or information that you use in running your home business.

No matter what is your situation you want to keep certain documents under tight wraps. There are a lot of programs out there on the market that encrypts your information, in other words uses an algorithm that "hides" the information where the other person can not decrypt/decode it to read the information.

Cypherix's Cryptainer and Cryptainer PE (Personal Edition) are programs that are used to encode important documents. Cryptainer PE and Cryptainer both use 448 bit encryption to protect these documents from intruders. The only difference between these two versions is that PE only allows you to create one "drive" of up to 100Mb for storing any information that you want.

Cryptainer can encrypt any files such as : audio, video, text documents, spreadsheets etc. If you have any type of file, Cryptainer can protect it from unwanted users.

Functionality:
Cryptainer works in a very simple fashion. Once you've installed it, you can create your "drive" where documents can be stored. You'll first have to enter a password to make sure that no one else can guess it. The password length is up to 100 characters and making a good password is a good idea so that no one could guess it and also you could remember it. Cryptrainer, works by creating a drive letter for example G: when you load the program. When you are not working or near your computer, it is a good idea to unload the drive so that no one could access the drive.

This drive acts like a normal partition like your harddrive. When loaded you could go to My Computer and drag and drop files and they are encrypted immediately. There was not any noticeable speed differences when dropping the files to the Cryptainer drive or to a different location on the harddrive. With Cryptainer, you could make one primary volume and secondary volumes of up to 2gb each, thus making it possible to do more with these encrypted drives. You can even install applications to your encrypted drive! If you don't want other people to access a program from the Start Menu, you have the ability to install the program in your encrypted drive and no one could access it.

Conclusion:
Cryptainer is a very simple to use program to make sure your valuable documents are safe and sound by hiding them in an encrypted drive. The program is quite straight forward, but you MUST remember your password or else you won't be able to access those documents that are being stored. Cryptainer PE allows you to create one volume of up to 100Mb, but if you need more for let's say a work environment where everyone could store their documents in a drive, or just want more space, Cryptainer is the right solution for you.

There are things that need to be added to the program, which I did inform the company of and these suggestions might so up in the future.
