An excellent alternative to Windows 7's Explorer interface, WinNC takes a nod from Norton Commander's style and builds on it for a modern computer. The tabbed interface simply makes exploring your PC so much easier and more organized. The Dutch developer introduces "Projects" which can include and organize specified files and folders from different parts (or drives) connected to your coputer.
WinNc also includes the shortcuts you'd normally see in Windows Explorer. It can copy, move, delete, compress and more.
The panel layout is also well thought out, allowing you to complete multiple tasks at the same time when configured. Coming bundled with WinNc Norton Commander is a slideshow viewer, better than the one that comes with Windows. In fact, on the point of the layout, I think it looks great taking a step back from the curving look that Windows 7 presents and going back to straighter lines.
The program supports Windows 7 natively but can also run on older versions. From Dunes MultiMedia:
WinNc download is a tabbed file manager especially developed for Windows 7. It also works on the older versions of Windows. This NC clone file manager is inspired on the dual panel concept of the old file manager Norton Commander. It has shortcuts to all the Windows 7 special folders and the multiple tabbed interface allows you to deal with and organize your data by projects. Projects can include files and folders that are related to the project.WinNc 5.8.0.0 is licensed as
Shareware for the Windows operating system / platform and can be used as a free trial until the trial period ends. WinNc is available to all software users as a free download (Shareware) with potential restrictions and is not necessarily the download of the full version.
