Many system administrators automate file transfers using the console based FTP program that ships with Microsoft Windows. The administrator typically calls the program from a batch file and passes a list of FTP commands to execute. It is not possible to test if file transfers were executed correctly and it is not possible to notify users if a problem occured. Morover, secure file transfer using SSH2 based SFTP or SSL/TLS based FTPS is not supported. Sysax FTP Automation provides secure file transfers, transfer status monitoring, email notification, compression and decompression, and detailed log files. Public key authentication for SSH based SFTP file transfers and client side certificates for SSL based secure transfers are also supported.
Sysax FTP Automation is much more than a direct drop-in replacement for the Windows console ftp program. The program has its own scheduler that runs as a native NT service. Both one time and recurring tasks can be scheduled using the accompanying administration panel. Multiple scripts can be run simultaneously and external programs can also be run using the scheduler. The program has an integrated script development and debugging environment. This enables administrators to step through and debug their file transfer scripts. For those who do not want to spend time writing scripts, the program also has a script generation wizard that generates complete scripts that can later be fine tuned and debugged.
