Panasonic GD55 Overview: The Panasonic GD55 is a 2003 model mobile phone which is compatible with Rogers Wireless and Microcell Fido. It operates on the frequencies of GSM 900, GSM 1800, GSM 1900, For this phone to be able to operate on Rogers Wireless or Microcell Fido, if not purchased at the respective retailers, one must make sure this phone does not have a sim-lock and ensure it is unlocked. Additionally, if you are looking to use this cell phone on T-Mobile, AT&T or other USA GSM carriers, there may also be no carrier-specific sim-lock.

Panasonic Company Overview: Panasonic is the international brand name for consumer electronics and other electric products manufactured by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. of Japan. The Panasonic name was created in 1955 and was first used as a brand for audio speakers. In more recent history, Matsushita Electric has begun manufacturing more expensive television and audio/video equipment in addition to their entry-level offerings, and is using the Panasonic brand name worldwide. Of course, they've also been making mobile phone for some while.

Audio Playback: The Panasonic GD55 does not come with an MP3 player. This phone comes with built in polyphonic ringtones, which means you can download simple MIDI files from the Internet and upload them through your phone, or simply download them via GRPS (if GRPS is built in). We do not recommend purchasing polyphonic ringtones from pay-per-use services such as television commercials, because the GD55 is capable of receiving them as MIDI files which are common on the Internet.

Video and Picture Taking: The Panasonic GD55 is not equipped with a camera or a video recording function.

Messaging and Internet: The Panasonic GD55 is capable of surfing the Internet with the built in browser of the phone. With this phone, you may also send MMS, or Multimedia Message Service. The phone is also able to use EMS, or Enhanced Message Service. On top of sending messages, the Panasonic GD55 is equipped with intelligent t9 typing, which allows you to easily type text messages without pressing each key upto 4 times for the correct letter.

The Panasonic GD55 comes fully equipped with a WAP browser, and additionally an HTML browser for normal web page surfing.. including support for java.

How do you rate the GD55?

This mobile phone should work on the Canadian networks of Rogers Wireless and Microcell Fido given there is no sim-lock currently activated.

Additionally, this mobile phone should also function on the US-American mobile networks of Cingular and T-Mobile and International GSM networks.
